About this blog

This blog should serve as a public notepad to record typical problem’s I encountered during my day to day work and the solutions I found. That way I should be able to use Google to find my own stuff and may even help fellow developer’s out there that run into similar issues.

The Title

Naming is always hard. I wanted to choose a title for the blog that expresses my way of thinking. Ever since I discovered how to make computers do what I want, I new I had found “the thing” for me. Programming, searching for ways to solve challenging problems, abstracting away the different layers of complexity until you are left with a simple and elegant solution fascinates me. I absolutely love what I am doing, and I realize what a tremendous privilege it is to be payed for something that I’d do for free – my job is my hobby at the same time.

Some people might find that concerning and could see even some pathological elements and I have to admit that I am sometimes questioning myself if it is normal that I am also spending my weekends thinking about possible solutions for something that I had to leave unfinished in the office on Friday night. But I wouldn’t want to have it any other way. So I am living to code instead of coding to live – developing software is more than a profession to me, it’s a way of life.

That sounds a little bit like something out of a sport product commercial but I am pretty sure anyone who has been in “the zone”, coding away a complex algorithm, and is running the code for the first time, just to see those expected log messages appear on the screen that tell you all the pieces are falling into place beautifully, can understand me.
